{what to wear} is here!

It's here!

"{what to wear} a guide to being ready for your closeup" is on sale now!

So what is it?  If you've ever heard from your clients, "What do we wear?" or you want to subtly-but-nicely suggest to them "this is what you should wear," then this guide is for you.

First up: the format of the guide. Are you a "green" studio and do you hate fiddling with unnecessary papers?  Then you'll love sending your clients a quick-and-easy PDF {what to wear} guide once they book a session.  Do you prefer sending a printed information packet, or "fluff" (and I say this fondly as a fluff girl myself!)?  Then you will love that the guide also comes with a ready-to-print 5x5 trifold (containing the specifics of children/family sessions and an overview of what to wear for portraits in general) and 2 5x5 flat cards which have maternity and newborn info.  You can send either a trifold of a flat card depending on what type of session your client books, and you can use the rest of the guide as additional inspiration or, perhaps, send that same client just the shopping links via e-mail. Yet another option is printing the letter-sized guide as a coil-bound proof book at the lab and going over it with clients at a pre-session consultation; or, you could even create JPGs for an online "booklet" in a password-protected section on your website.  The options are plentiful!

But what's the "meat" of the guide, you ask?  What specifically does it cover?  The guide contains 24 fully-layered, editable PSD files, with photos and text that are ready to be used by you.  That's right!  This can be used right out of the box, or it can be tweaked by you before you flatten and create your PDF--just switch out my logo for yours and away you go.  The 13 pages of breezily-written, pleasingly formatted text cover what to wear in practically any situation--maternity shoots, newborn sessions, individual children's shots, sibling photos, and the toughest wardrobe challenge of all . . . family shoots! Your client is guided through the traditional rules of dressing for portraits as well as how to bend and maybe break some of those rules.  There's also a section on finding one's style and a collection of over 70 website shopping links, categorized by the styles the guide covers.

The fine print: But what about the photos in the guide?  Aren't those all Joyce's?  Can I use those too?  I've thought quite a bit about this conundrum! The answer is this: while certainly you will want to replace Joyce's images with yours as your clients begin to follow the advice in the guide, feel free to use Joyce's images until that time.  I kindly ask that Philadelphia photographers do not use my images, for obvious reasons.  If you prefer, you may also include this notice on the back of your guide: "This clothing guide created for XYZ Photography by WordSmith for Photographers.  Copyright 2008 text and images Joyce Smith Photography." This will help explain things to your clients easily--sort of like if you had used stock photos for the guide.

Your download files will be sent within 24 hours, typically much sooner.  Because of the nature of electronic files, all sales are final.  Please do not post any of the photos or verbiage in this guide on a public portion of your website.  Finally, please respect Joyce's work and livelihood by refusing to share any portion of these files.

The {what to wear} guide is priced at $75 and includes all layered PSD files, printable 5x5 trifolds and flat cards. Contents will not be sold separately.

Joyce,
I love what you have done here! Faboulous!
Just purchased this and can't wait to start using it!

I purchased the guide, just what I needed! Thank-you...
Posted my intro to the guide on my blog today.
I know this guide will benefit my business and provide for my clients the questions to the {what to wear}.
Just awesome...

You, my dear, are a genius. Your way with words is unmatched, but then you go and put it together with (fabulous) clothing recommendations... and you just knock it out of the park! I adore my guide. And even though I'm still customizing it, I *know* it will help my clients feel more comfortable with clothing choices... at the same time allowing me to have some creative input on how my images will ultimately appear in the end. ;) You rock, Joyce, for putting this all together for us. I can't thank you enough!!!!! *muah*

Congrats Joyce!!! brilliant idea!

xoxo

Joyce, will there be a Spring 2009 version coming :-) ?
